The food was good and the presentation of the food was very well done as well. I only gave them a 3 star because the service was a little off. We had a party of 11 and my dish came out after about 45 mins. And some of the set plates that our party ordered were missing the soup or it came out wrong. I ordered the Tonkatsu plate with a bowl of soup. I didn’t get the soup and by the time they realized it, I didn’t want it any more cause it was too late. They seem to get busy at dinner time and probably need more help. Ya, service was definitely off.
Scene here was way better than the overcrowded tourist vibe next door. Staff was all very friendly and attentive.
Food hit the spot. Chicken and cheese combo plate and the seafood pancakes split between 2 was too much for us to finish. Took the pancakes back to our and munched the rest there. Happily
The place is tidy, staff is nice, bathroom is clean. Tofu soup is good, could be better. Spicy pork was plain, very little flavour. Kimchi side dish was super sour not in a good way. Portion quite generous, food serve quite fast. I wish I could give you more Stars for the rating but the food is key, they are not there yet.
The seafood pancakes were tasty & the assorted Soondubu was very good, although a very small bowl.
Food is delicious. Favorite was the crispy green onion pancake. Service started out fine, but slowly dwindled down to having wait for 25minutes to get our check. There were people after us that got served and checked out before we could leave. It was not busy during the time we went either. Maybe it was an off-time for the staff. Will consider revisiting the restaurant.
I was craving Korean food and it was only an 8 minute walk from Hilton Waikiki so I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised, it was very good and hit the spot!!! I didn’t expect it to taste like it does in LA or Korea so I wasn’t disappointed. My mom and I got there around 3pm for a late lunch. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman who seated us and took our order. We were the only customers at the time which made me a little nervous but it was an odd time.
My mom ordered the seafood soondubu and I ordered the kimchi soondubu (w/ pork). The waiter said that their soups were spicy so I had to ask, Korean spicy or Hawaiian spicy? He said Korean spicy so I got my mom the mild and I got the regular; both were good to our taste.
I don’t think they use the silken (soft) soondubu they use in traditional restaurants, instead maybe a medium firm. I’m guessing it’s due to availability which is no biggie. The kimchi soondubu had large chunks of kimchi and pork whereas I’m used too seeing smaller pieces in soups, still tasted great! The kimchi was a bit overly fermented both in the soup and the banchan but again, it was still very good. When back in Waikiki I will definitely be back.
Decent food. Good portion size. A combo is enough for two people.
Kimchi pancakes were super. You must order some.
Beer tasted watered down. The reason I am certain of it is I buy it a lot for home. They have three beers on tap and I know them all well, so don't think it was a mixup with what was poured.
We ordered the spicy pork and assorted tofu soup combo, as well as the fried chicken (not pictured here). The pork and tofu soup were just okay - definitely not worth the price. The fried chicken was very yummy though, and I'd order those again.
